03

Build trust with customers

Document how AI is approved, reviewed and monitored so clients can see that adoption is responsible and proportionate.

AI policy questions from UK employers

Is an AI policy legally required in the UK?

There is no single general requirement for every employer to hold one document called an “AI policy”. However, existing data-protection, equality, employment, consumer, intellectual-property and sector rules may apply to how AI is used. A policy helps turn those obligations and organisational decisions into clear workplace rules.

Can a small business use this AI policy builder?

Yes. The questions and safeguards are designed to scale with the organisation’s uses and risks. A smaller employer using approved productivity tools should not need the same controls as a business automating decisions about people.

Does the generated policy replace legal advice?

No. It is a first draft based on the information supplied and public sources. It should be reviewed by authorised managers and, where the organisation has regulated, sensitive or higher-risk uses, appropriate legal, privacy and security specialists.
